On our way home we stopped in , Margate, NJ to see Lucy the Elephant, Atlantic City for lunch, and Doylestown, PA to go to Kids Castle. This castle is huge and has a maze of stairs and slides on the inside.
Margate has some of the shwankiest beach homes I have ever seen! Holy Moly--you gotta have some $$ to live there! Lucy the Elephant is the oldest roadside attraction. It is made with over 1 million pieces of wood and was used to attract people to the area back in the late 1800's. We had to stop and see here because Isaac saw the picture and thought it was hilarious that she has "a window in her bummie". Going up inside Lucy was full of narrow twisty stairs but thankfully not as high as the lighthouse.
Kids Castle was awesome. Getting there was not. Traffic was terrible and it took about an hour and a half to drive through Philidelphia. The highways were stop and go so Jon decided to cut through the city. That was pretty congested too and had lots of red lights. But, we got to see a lot of the city and eventually we made it to the park. Unfortunately we hadn't been there long when it started raining pretty hard. It was worth it though. The kids got to eat a snack and run around for a while. I would definitely go back there on our way through Philidelphia.
