Invasion of the Birds

So I was in the sunroom and I suddenly saw bird after bird after bird flocking in our backyard.  They were flying in by the dozens and attacking the ground in the backyard.  You can see traces of snow on the ground in the pictures but the snow had recently melted and it was sunny outside.  I ran upstairs to the attic where Jon was studying and got him to look in the backyard.  These birds were EVERYWHERE!  I don't know what they were eating but they were having a field day. They are pretty birds with orange beaks and speckled feathers.  Any idea what they are?

Jon Turned 35!

So you can't tell what it looks like in the picture too well but Jon is holding a platter of Chicken Piccata that I made for his birthday.  It is from the Whole Foods Cookbook and soooooo delish!  We opened presents, ate some yummy food, and shared a little pan of brownies.  We also watched America's Funniest Home Videos while we ate the brownies.  It was a lovely evening.

A Little Contest

I think that I might finally have a child that likes to draw.  So far, Ewan and Isaac haven't been into drawing for fun.  It is boring to them. They'd rather run around (Ewan) or play imagination games (Isaac).  Graham likes markers, pens, pencils you name it.  He likes to draw on his hand, the walls, and books.  I am trying to train him that we only draw on paper.  I know I'm squishing his creative outlets but I really don't my whole house to be a canvas for marker creations.

Ewan and Isaac never showed a lot of interest in drawing.  A little from time to time.  We'll see if his interest is a passing phase or something that sticks around.

We pulled up the little IKEA table from the basement so Graham could have a drawing place--or book reading place.  I took a few pictures so you could see him in all his cuteness.

So, can you guess which FRIENDS episode this picture reminds me of?

Learning and Playing

The new form of pillow fighting.

It made me laugh!

Who says saxophone players can't just wear their underpants?
They both were able to make some noise with the sax.

Ewan learned about music and instruments at school over the past few weeks.  Ever since they started the lessons Ewan has been begging Jon to get out his saxophone.  We had a family music night where we got out guitars, bass guitars, drums, shakers, and the sax and played along with music.  Ewan learned all sorts of facts about instruments and the names of the different parts of them. Like on a guitar, he knows what the bridge is, the neck, the sound hole etc.  He also told me that the part on the end of the guitar where you attach your guitar strap to wear over your body is called the "penis".  He said it so matter of factly as he was telling me all the different parts of the guitar that I thought he learned that at school!  He then told me he made that one up because it sticks out of the end just like a penis does.  Needless to say, I could not hold in my laughter.  And I had to admit, it sort of made sense!

Someone swiped a lollipop off the dining room table.  We do call him Swiper after all.
Isaac is pretending to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.  Michaelangelo, I believe.  Those foam swords have to be "x-ed" just right.
Ninja Warrior.
