Graham 3 Months

I couldn't decide between the two because they are both so cute! Isn't my baby absolutely gorgeous?!

He is laughing, squealing, chewing on his hands, and cooing up a whole lotta conversation! He is by far the easiest baby we have had and so full of joy. I'm thankful, so, so thankful that God gave us this precious baby to love on. He has even been napping and putting himself to sleep without fussing for more than a few minutes! How awesome is that??!!

We are definitely over the hardest part of babydom and everyone is enjoying life a little more these days. Now that Graham is napping in our bed instead of my arms all the time I am freed up to play with Ewan and Isaac more which they love too. I was missing some good play time with them so I am glad for this new season.

Graham's hair continues to be the first thing people comment on when they see him. It is still crazy and long. If I had a dollar for every time someone comments on his hair I would have some nice pocket change to spend!

He is cute AND handsome!! Trey turns 4 months on Dec. 11, so Graham & Trey are almost exactly 1 month apart. :-)

What advice would you give for napping? Trey sleeps great at night - all the way through. But, he is a catnapper (like 15 minutes max.) during the day. I can tell he needs more because he's very tired by 4-5 p.m. It's almost like I need to teach him how to nap. Do you have a set nap time a.m. and p.m. for Graham? I welcome any wisdom!

Hey Christy!
The best advice I have would come from a book called Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Dr. Marc Weisbluth.

In it he says that the morning nap is the first to develop and it starts developing around 4 months old. So you might want to be on the lookout for that. Also, I don't keep Graham up for more than 2 hours at a time (also from the book). Keeping babies this young up for more than 2 hours at a time can make them overtired and causes them to catnap more during the day.

It is great that Trey is sleeping well at night--that develops first in babies. Try keeping his awake times a little shorter during the day if they are more than 2 hours and see if he starts sleeping a little better during the day. If his awake times are already around 1.5 to 2 hours long then he might just be developing a nap schedule. Sleep is a funny thing...when babies don't get enough it effects their whole entire sleep pattern. In the book he says that sleep begets sleep.

Once napping starts getting a little more "normal"--most babies go down for their morning nap between 8 and 10 am (depending on their morning wake up time) and then take an afternoon one between 12 and 2pm and then a short nap between 2 and 4ish.

Do you hold Trey during naps or do you lay him down?

Graham is still napping 4 or sometimes 5 times a day--but mostly 4 times. We don't have a real regular pattern yet but I think one will start emerging soon now that he is going to sleep on his own. His bedtime had been between 9:30 and 11pm but I think it will move up considerably since we are laying him down for his sleeps every time now. I just keep an eye on the clock and don't let him stay up for more than 2 hours at a time. The pattern will eventually set itself.

I definitely recommend the book since it talks about sleep throughout all of childhood. We have LOVED it and passed it onto others who have loved it as well.

I bet that his nap time will develop a little more pattern over the next month but try the other things I suggested and see if it makes any difference.

What beautiful, shining eyes he has. He looks so happy and at peace. I'm so blessed God gave Graham to you, too, and so blessed he is such a good baby! Give him kisses for me!

Amelia,
Thanks for the wisdom. I do put Trey in his crib to nap. Sometimes he'll fuss then sleep. Other times he'll fuss with no successful nap. I definitely will get that book to read & learn, learn, learn! You're great to offer your wisdom - thanks!

I don't see the red in his hair.....I looked at the pics again and I don't see it. In person it is more blonde than red!

As one of Graham's grandmothers, I can attest that he is the cutest, sweetest baby ever! And, being a grandmother, I know that I am absolutely not biased. He laughs, coos, and smiles all the time! He rarely cries (only when he needs something right now like he is hungry or very tired). He is very content to watch his brothers, his Mom, his Dad, his Grandpa, or me. He loves to talk to you and tell you interesting things that only babies can tell you. He is adorable, sweet, handsome, very cuddlely (sp?), and did I say awesome? Love that baby and my arms are aching to hold him again. (yes, already even though we were just there yesterday). Graham's brothers are very sweet with him and love him very gently. Ewan loves to play pat-a-cake with him and talk to him. He seems very protective of Graham. Isaac is also very sweet with him but is not as quite as enthralled as Ewan is.
