About the blog.....

So, I realized that in the last several months I have lost a purpose/focus about my blog. At one point I wanted to write about birthy things but I feel like so many other bloggers do that better than me. I've thought about writing about parenting but I did that for The Mom Crowd and didn't want to add it to my own blog. I used to tell a lot more funny stories about the kids--but either they stopped being funny, I lost my sense of humor, or I just couldn't muster up the energy to write anything. I think I feel a little more self conscious about what I write now--plus I find that Facebook is a pleasant distraction and way to connect with people.

Because we are living overseas now the blog is a good place to update family and friends with photos but honestly, that feels boring to me. My blog has lost its spice. I've thought about closing it down several times because I'm not sure who even checks in on it anymore and if it is worth it. I've been asking myself WHY do I have a blog in the first place? It feels like my reasons are different now than when I first started blogging.

There are many things I enjoy writing about--cooking, knitting, parenting, birth junkie topics-but so many are much more experienced than I am, better writers, and more interesting.

Grandma--I know you are checking in and I promise I will keep posting pictures of your great-grandbabies so you can see them! I'm just trying to figure out what else I want my blog to be about :)

I just want to say I love your blog and the pictures. I find it fascinating what y'all do in England. Just blog what you want and don't worry if its boring to others. Its your blog. :)

You're in my reader and I read your posts. My vote is in the "keep going" camp. I would love reading if it went to a "what we're doing in England" blog.

ditto to what Daniel said.

I like your blog and it's on my roll.

To be honest, I've been going through a bit of the same thing. What do I post about? I can't do anything too politically charged (which is pretty easy to do in this part of the world), but I feel like posting pictures of vacation and kids growing up is kind of... blah. I need something to spice it up a bit. Maybe a jalepeno border? ;-)

Of course, Sweetie, I love your blog because it is a little slice of your life that I wouldn't get to glimpse by only talking to you. It is like running to the mail box and finding a big juicy letter with pictures! I know that writing letters has been replaced by so many other venues in today's world but but by writing in your blog is like writing to all your family and friends at once - a real timesaver if you think about it. The people who love and miss you find your life fascinating ...honestly. I hope you find inspiration again. However, no pressure, really...LOL.

I'm with your mom....I love to check for pictures and cute stories about my favorite boys. And I love hearing about life in England... I check it periodically (but not daily) and I haven't figured out the RSS thing yet. Every time I read it I feel like I've had a little chat about what's going on in your world and with the time difference it's better than waking you up at 2 a.m. to chat, right?????? Love you all

Please keep blogging! I dont know if you remember Drew and me coming over to your house a few times to babysit, but we SO appreciated seeing into your family life. You are such an encouragement to us both and we love reading about and praying for you.
I am especially encouraged by your honesty and just being real. Also, you may not think your blog is the best for learning about birth stuff...but you are totally the person who got me interested and researching it!
You are a great writer and so trustworthy, please keep blogging. :)

Hi Amelia,
Don't know if you remember me (Trinity '01), but I came across your blog through a link on Brie's blog a while back, and I wanted to thank you so much for everything you've written about birth, both here and at The Mom Crowd. Because of you, I did my own reading and research on natural birth, found a birth center and midwives who made me feel like a participant (instead of a patient) in my pregnancy and birth, took a Bradley class (which was so great that we hired our instructor to be our doula), and gave birth (drug-free!) to a beautiful daughter three months ago. So, thank you, your posts really made a difference for me.
