After a Long Morning of Playing....

MY HOUSE LOOKS LIKE THIS!
I am trying to figure out the best way to pick up during the morning. Attention spans don't last long and I an really bad at reminding them to pick up something before they move on to the next thing. I need to start doing that! Any advice?

YIKES!

would it help to give them a certain period of time in a section of the room and then turn on the "clean up" song and have them do that before they move onto the next activity? or is that too much trouble? haha.

I never thought of a limited time in a particular section of toy playing. I probably let them "free play" too much and they need more structured time of play with me. It is hard when they are playing contently to not use that time to get a load of laundry done, make a phone call, clean the meal dishes etc....It isn't too much trouble to do the clean up song--it IS hard to keep them motivated--BUT if it is just one little mess rather than waiting until there is a GIANT mess the clean up song works much better. Timers work great around here so I think I can work with that. I am still open to suggestions!

sorry, amelia, i fall into the category of a big kid who still has trouble remembering to pick up one thing before moving onto the next! but it's fun to see so much of your real life..!

Have your child play with ONLY ONE thing at a time. If they want to play with Pots and Pans...Ewan you can play with the pot and Isaac you can play with the lid. When they get bored they can trade!
